Carrie Underwood’s ‘Dark Side’ Shocks ‘Idol’ – Luke Bryan Spooked!

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood has spent the last two decades as a country music powerhouse, selling over 85 million albums and cementing her place in the industry with numerous awards and hit records.

From her stunning rise to fame as the winner of American Idol’s fourth season in 2005 to her sold-out tours and chart-topping albums, Underwood has captivated audiences worldwide. But despite her household name status, she still manages to surprise fans—even her fellow Idol judges!

Recently, Underwood returned to American Idol, not as a contestant, but as a judge. As the competition entered the intense Hollywood Week, contestants were eager to impress the panel. However, the spotlight briefly shifted from the hopefuls to Underwood herself when a contestant posed an unexpected question: “What are your top three favorite movies?”

Taking just a moment to think, Underwood didn’t hold back with her answer: “Probably Halloween.” The response was met with a mix of shock and intrigue, but she wasn’t done. “A Nightmare on Elm Street—I’ve seen all of them. And the Alien franchise.”

Her fellow judge, Luke Bryan, was visibly taken aback. “I’m scared to sit by her at this point,” he joked, dubbing it the “Dark Side of Carrie.” Fans watching at home had a similar reaction, flooding social media with surprised comments like, “This is surprising, I can’t even watch Gremlins!” and “Haha Luke. I would have never pictured Carrie as a horror movie fan! But I’m here for it.”

As it turns out, this isn’t a new revelation. Underwood has openly expressed her love for all things spooky before. In a 2021 interview with Cody Alan, she shared, “I love this season! There are so many movies on TV… The Halloween series is definitely a favorite!”

She even admitted to having “gnarly dreams” and a fascination with crime documentaries like Snapped and Investigation Discovery’s mystery-solving series. “I don’t know why I gravitate toward those. I just do.”

With her angelic voice and girl-next-door persona, Underwood may seem like the last person you’d expect to be a die-hard horror fan—but that’s what makes it all the more intriguing. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned about her over the years, it’s that she’s always full of surprises.
